4th March Meeting - Keith Morgan
Chair
Ron
Attended Legacy Evening at the RSL last Sunday afternoon with talk on regimental history & the Army Band, then straight to police business after Ian reported his chair stolen.
The culprit was never identified, probably because the issue of there being only two pears left was a simmering issue throughout the investigation.
International Toast
from Bruce
To the Rotary Club of Jerusalem, chartered in 1929 by Alberta, along with Cairo, Athens & Istanbul the same year. They meet on Wednesdays for lunch at the YMCA in King David Street and language is English.
Not that we don’t believe you Bruce, but we might send Rudy over to check it out.
Thought I’d throw this in to make it look a bit exotic

Roger
He never said this morning but his first name is Francis just like the Pope.
FRANCIS KEITH MORGAN.
Born 28 February 1961 in Toowoomba to parents, of John and Maureen Morgan. I am the youngest of 4 children. Eldest sister is Bernadette whom you all know, I live with my mother and brother Douglas. My sister Denise lives in Melbourne with her family and grand children.
At the age of 3, I was rushed into hospital with Bronchial Asthma. My parents were told I nearly died. From then until I was 7 years, I had about 3 to 4 trips to hospital each year. Twice more I nearly didn’t make it, then I started to grow out of it, as the doctor said there is a change.
I started school at Our Lady of Lourdes when I was 5, but when I turned 8, I went to the Toowoomba Opportunity School, which I enjoyed as I learnt to cook, and do woodwork and had lots of friends.
In 1976 we moved to the Gold Coast which the doctors said would be better for my health. My parents bought a Mixed Business at Miami, next door to the Miami Hotel. My job was to keep the fridges stocked with drinks and milk. We lived over the shop so it was great to be able to go to the beach. After my parents sold the business. Mum and dad bought a house at Mermaid Waters in 1980.
Our Milkman who used to call at our house asked me if I would like to work for him, which I did and enjoyed it every afternoon, when he sold the run I was sold with the run also and I went with the next two new owners.
I joined the Surfers Paradise Leo Club when I was 18, as my brother Douglas was a member, nearly every year we would go to a conference in Sydney or Magnetic Island. One year the Lions conference was held in Surfers Paradise we all marched in the procession through Surfers Paradise. I was given the honour of carrying the flag.
My dad passed away suddenly in 1996, a big shock to us all. Growing up he always took us away on holiday for two weeks at Christmas to the beach and lots of weekends in Dalby where my grandparents lived. Until my Grandfather retired to Redcliffe where they lived.
Mum, Doug and myself stayed on at Mermaid Waters until 2004, when Bernadette and Ron suggested we move up to Caloundra, a big decision for mum to make to sell the house, but she did it and we moved up in the November. We bought our home at Currimundi. Now it is our job to take care of her, as she is getting old.
I thank you all the Caloundra Rotary for accepting me as an honorary member. I love all our BBQ’s and get togethers.
THANK YOU ALL!!!

Once you are on the Valley FM 95.9 website, go to Interviews, click on Anna Wheildon and look for Libby Muller and Roger Todd Rotary.
If you could pass this on for anyone who wishes to hear them.

Bernie and I would like to thank all Rotarians present on the 4th March to hear Keith tell his story. He is so proud of being a member of the Rotary Club of Caloundra. From our time with the Club he would have to be the most active honorary member to date. Yes we are a bit biased.
ReplyDeleteWe are happy to have master Chef in the club Deb
